NEW YORK, NY October 7, 2006 - In 2006, Etta
James looks amazing, says she feels
amazing, and most importantly, SOUNDS
amazing.  With her latest release, “All The
Way,” and a brand new figure that has her
more slim and confident than ever, James
will take the stage for ONE NIGHT ONLY in
her BLUE NOTE DEBUT on October 10 at
Blue Note, 131 West. 3rd St., $95 per person
at a table, $75 at the bar.

Since the 1950’s, James has enjoyed
continual success as an R&B and Blues
singer.  Made famous by her first release on
MCA/Chess Records, AT LAST, James’ voice
is deeper and raspier than it once was, but
her ability to convey pain and beauty through
her music is as strong as ever.

James has won three Grammy awards, a
NARAS Lifetime Achievement award, is a
Rhythm & Blues Foundation Pioneer
awardee and a W.C. Handy Blues
Foundation honoree.  Lately, she has made
a resurgence into the world of popular music
with Christina Aguilera’s version of “At Last.”
Aguilera cites the song as one of her
favorites and James as an inspiration.  Still,
James is not reminiscing about the past –
she continually moves forward in her musical
career, as is evident in her latest release.

All The Way was produced by Etta’s two
sons, Donto and Sametto James, who will
also be joining her on the Blue Note stage in
the Roots Band.

It’s chock full of contemporary classics and
time-honored standards and runs the gamut
from R&B chestnuts to show tunes.  The
release includes plenty of Etta’s favorite
songs, including Bobby Womack’s “Stop On
By,” “Strung Out” (a Johnny Guitar Watson
tune) and “All The Way,” a song that she has
always associated with Frank Sinatra.
Additionally, there is a rendition of Leonard
Berntsein’s “Somewhere” and Prince’s
“Purple Rain,” among others.

Most fans believe the best way to see Etta
James is live.  There is no better setting to
see her live and in the best shape of her life
than on her debut at the
Blue Note Jazz Club!
