STAX Records to Release SOUL MEN
Soundtrack  Nov 4th  Featuring Music
from Isaac Hayes, Anthony Hamilton,
John Legend, Eddie Floyd, Sharon
Leal & others

Upcoming Film Stars Samuel L.
Jackson and Bernie Mac With Cameo's
From Millie Jackson and Isaac Hayes

October 28, 2008 - More than
providing the musical narrative
for the upcoming movie, the
soundtrack for Soul Men
stands alone as a solid album
that faithfully recreates the
legendary sound and flavor
associated with Stax Records at the height of its
popularity in the late 60s through the mid-70s.
With a slate of top contemporary artists including
Grammy winner John Legend, neo-soul stars
Anthony Hamilton, Leela James and Ryan Shaw,
cult favorites Sharon Jones with her band The
Dap Kings (known for their work with Amy
Winehouse among others) and MeShell
NdegeOcello among others, the Soul Men
soundtrack focuses on some of the greatest
music classics from the Stax catalog like
infectious cover of the James & Bobby Purify
1966 hypnotic classic, Im Your Puppet;  Comfort
Me, a 1966 Carla Thomas chestnut performed
with soulful emotion both in the movie and on the
soundtrack by actress/singer Sharon Leal.   The
CD also features stellar original Stax recordings
by Isaac Hayes (Never Can Say Goodbye, a 1971
Top 5 R&B and Top 30 pop hit) and longtime soul
man Eddie Floyd (of Knock On Wood fame) via
the 1968 hit Ive Never Found A Girl (To Love Me
Like You Do). Patrice Rushen and drummer
James Gadson also participate in the project.
R&B Star and Former BLACK PANTHER
PARTY LEADER To Be Honored For
Exemplary  Community Contributions  in
Harlem Saturday, Nov 8th, 2008 @ 7PM
Keyshia Cole
Ericka Huggins
New York October 28, 2008 - The Black Cotton
Foundation calls Keyshia Cole and Ericka Huggins
"True inspirations to the people in our community.
Their life examples are standards for future
generations to follow."

R&B superstar Keyshia Cole and former Black
Panther Party leader Ericka Huggins are named as
this year's recipients of the Second Annual "Dr. Betty
Bahiyah Shabazz Award", in recognition for
consistent and positive contributions to their
communities, announced by Black Cotton
Foundation's Chairman Raheim Singleton.   "These
two epitomize the essence of this special award",
said Singleton, "and we are ecstatic to have them as
this year's recipients."

The award is given by The Black Cotton Foundation,
a not-for-profit organization in the NY Metro area to a
person or family whose life and actions became a
positive force in their communities despite suffering
a tragic loss or facing many overwhelming
obstacles on their own.

Singleton says, "Dr. Betty Shabazz overcame many
obstacles in her life to become an iconic figure in
our history. The Black Cotton Foundation dedicates
this award to her in hopes that by passing on her
legacy people in the community will be influenced,
inspired, and realize that despite the obstacles and
tragedies they may face in their lives we should
never accept ordinary and always go for
extraordinary."

The event is FREE to the public.  The recipients will
be honored during an Awards Ceremony on
Saturday, November 8, 2008 at The Malcolm X & Dr.
Betty Shabazz Memorial Educational and Cultural
Center, 3940 Broadway, New York, NY 10032, @

please bring a canned good to donate to a church to
feed the homeless in the community.  For more

October 28, 2008 - Wall
Street Alphas Charitable
Foundation marquee event
raises funds to support and
develop programs that
address the plight of young
African-American and
Latino men in the New York City area.
There are significant issues that
disproportionately affect African
American and Latino young men in
our City. For example, there are high
incidence of imprisonment and
attrition from high school, decreased
reading aptitude, and the high rates
of STD infections, specifically
HIV/AIDS. It is the long standing
belief that education is the key to
changing the mentality of our youth.
Wall Street Alphas Charitable
Foundation, through the Alpha
G.E.N.T.S. (Gaining Essential
Networking Tools for Success)
mentoring program, provides these
young men with extraordinary life
changing experiences through a
myriad of educational programs,
college trips and life long mentoring.
Through events like Think Black! and
the support of sponsors they provide
resources and solutions to build
intellectual and social equity among
the underrepresented youth in
impoverished communities.

Terrie M. Williams is a social worker
by training who became a successful
public relations pro by her own
design, inscribed her prominence as
an author of the successful business
and inspirational story, and has now
emerged as an advocate for youth
and those who battle depression.

     Obama Elected Top Movie Date
                   By Texters
Tens of Thousands Texting Moviegoers Have Spoken
Tuesday, November 4, 2008  - The national
polls open today but tens of thousands of
texting moviegoers were asked a specific
question last week, and they have spoken!

Senator Barack Obama beat out Senator
John McCain when polled via text message
"Who would you rather take to the movies?"

Texters had no problem sounding off  on who
they preferred when it came to catching a flick
with the two presidential candidates.

Senator Obama easily raked in the most
votes with 83% of all text messages
compared to McCain's 17%.

Currently Senator McCain is not only trailing
in moviegoer polls, but national presidential
polls as well. "Indications are it's linked to the
fact that Obama has adapted the tech talk of
our users," said Chris Geromini, head of the
mobile service that gives people movie
showtimes and movie news.

From the start, Senator Obama has branded
himself as cutting-edge, with the crowning
point a record setting text message blast to
millions of Americans naming his running
mate back in August.

In the spirit of the upcoming election, popular
mobile website 43KIX.com sent the text
message poll to more than 35,000
moviegoers from large cities to small towns
with all ages weighing in.
